about

The Earth Head is a worldly, sprawling beast. The cut and paste visual aesthetics of Diger Rokwell’s artwork make reference to his musical methods, and then loop right back round again, as the incredibly diverse sources of samples found here echo the eclectic influences on his artwork. Sounds complicated, but once you hear it, The Earth Head is anything but. The tracks here flow organically over an international bed of sounds, at once old-world and post-modern, and ultimately, are immensely satisfying listening.

A dedication to Diger’s mother, Helen Margaret, these ten tracks take us on a journey parallel to Diger’s own global roamings. We’re introduced to samples and live instrumentation, to Turkish psychedelic rock, pounding drums, pagan drones, and Hungarian funk, all centered around the building blocks known to us as Hip hop.

Diger’s live show goes even further in demonstrating this all-encompassing philosophy. With himself alternately playing keyboards, guitars, laptop and even rocking the mic from time to time, the show also includes guests in the form of heavy live drums, and collaboration from The Community’s emcees.
